Buddy Camp
Buddy Camp is a community-wide project that allows children in grades 1st - 5th (must have completed Kindergarten), both with and without developmental challenges, to participate in a week-long summer day camp. For the last 13 years, children and youth have enjoyed the activities and relationships formed during Buddy Camp. Campers are placed into Buddy pairs to allow all children the opportunity to share quality, structured camp activities that encourage them to learn more about each other and develop friendships, healthy behaviors and Christian attitudes.
Buddy Camp is staffed by volunteer professionals who work with children with varying abilities, including nurses, therapists, youth counselors and many others. Youth in grades 8th - college age (must have completed 7th grade) can be Buddy Counselors; each Buddy Pair has a Buddy Counselor to assist campers and especially to promote and nurture healthy relationships and guide campers through the activities so that each child can fully participate and succeed with confidence and enjoyment.
Support Buddy Camp
Buddy Camp is available at no cost to the campers and counselors who participate and relies largely on volunteer staff to plan, organize and operate the camp. It is funded solely through grants and private donations. The prepared camp budget provides for a variety of carefully planned activities with consideration for access and adaptations, meals and snacks, and special keepsakes to hold the memories of the week at camp.
