FUMCA Youth

Our Youth Ministry is dedicated to nurturing

the faith and growth of middle and high school

students through meaningful learning, fellowship,

and life-changing experiences-all within the safe

and supportive environment of First UMC of Alexandria.

Youth Sunday School for Spiritual Formation

10–10:45 AM

On Sunday mornings, our experienced and caring Sunday school teachers lead youth in engaging lessons designed to deepen their understanding and interpretation of Scripture. This time encourages thoughtful exploration of faith, helping young people develop a strong foundation in Christian beliefs.

Sunday Night Youth Gatherings

5:30–7 PM

Every Sunday afternoon, youth come together for a fun, nurturing community experience that combines a shared meal, engaging activities, and personal "check-ins." This time of fellowship fosters strong bonds among peers and provides a supportive space for open discussion, faith sharing, and connection.

Mission Trips

Annual Summer Youth Mission Trip

Every summer, our youth embark on an unforgettable mission trip to a new location each year, serving others and growing in faith through hands-on experiences. This annual mission trip creates memories and lessons that last a lifetime, and is an experience curated to fit the strengths and passions of FUMCA youth!

2026 Mission Trip: “Serving the Smokies” May 31-June 6, 2026

FUMCA youth are headed to the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee for a week of service

(with LIVE-IT Ministries of Seymour, TN), adventure, fun, and spiritual transformation.

Fundraising & Community Support

Throughout the year, youth plan and lead fundraisers to make the summer mission trip affordable and accessible for all participants through their own active involvement. After the trip, they host a dinner to thank supporters, share stories about their mission experience, and inspire the next year's group with the announcement of the upcoming destination.

Safe Sanctuary Commitment

The Youth Ministry program at First UMC is conducted in full compliance with the Safe Sanctuary policies of The United Methodist Church. Our ministry is facilitated by qualified staff and dedicated volunteers who are background-checked and trained to maintain a secure, welcoming environment for all youth. Join us as we grow in faith, service, and friendship—equipping our youth for lifelong discipleship and meaningful Christian living.
