tRANSFORMING OUR COMMUNITY BY BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS TO GROW ACTIVE DISCIPLES WHO SHARE THE LIFE CHANGING LESSONS OF JESUS.
WORSHIP WITH US
11:00 am in person
Thank you to all of you who selected a gift for our second annual Methodist Foster Care Christmas party. All of the gifts were selected within a week which was great!
Now on to putting the finishing touches on the drive-through "party" on Saturday, December 12.
To make our driveway more festive, we would love to borrow any outdoor blow-up decorations you may have. We could pick them up on Friday, December 11 and have them ready to give back to you on Sunday, December 13. These would really make a difference in turning the FUMCA driveway into a Christmas wonderland! Please let Judy King know if you have decorations to share--317-370-2996.
Also we would love to have you volunteer to help at the party the afternoon of December 12. The event is from 2:00-6:00 so any time you can provide would be so appreciated. The wonderful UMW women have volunteered to do shifts in the kitchen to box up the dinners. Newman Methodist folks have volunteered to greet the families at the first station where the kids will get Bibles provided by UMW and their first activity to take home. We still need volunteers to be at the second activity station to give out that package and the third station where the Santa pictures will be taken. Please call/text Candy Brame at 318-452-3587 if you would like to volunteer.
Special thank yous to the Atwoods who are providing cookie kits complete with three gingerbread cookies, icing and decorations, the UMW for providing Bibles for all of the foster kids and to Outlaws who have given us a fantastic price for catering the dinners we will be sending home with each family. Joel Byram and Will Glass are going to be our Santas so the kids can have a pic with Santa complete with masks!
We want to fill these special kids and their foster families with the love of Christ and, of course, with gifts to make this season just a little bit brighter!
WHO WE ARE
"First United Methodist Church of Alexandria celebrates strong relationships that focus on "Transforming our community by BUILDING relationships that GROW active disciples who SHARE the life lessons of Jesus."
We rejoice in our rich heritage in the heart of the Garden District, and we continue to grow as a vibrant community of faith, hope, and love.
We experience God's grace and seek to grow in our relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ through Prayer, Worship, Bible Study, Sacraments, Fellowship together, Mission, and Service so that we might be those who participate in building God’s Kingdom here on earth.
We value relationships with others, encouraging one another on this journey together, excited about what God is doing in our midst.
We are learning how to “walk on water” with faith, courage, humility, and compassion and would love to welcome you to come and experience the journey of God's amazing grace in your life."
"Absolutely great place to worship! Engaging and inspiring! My husband and I moved here in 2016 and haven’t walked into another church since. We were greeted and welcomed like family! I’m happy to say we will have 2 children grow in faith at this church!"
