Experiencing Life Together

District and Conference Youth Events

The United Methodist Church is a connectional church, meaning our churches work and grow together in ministry.  The Alexandria District and the Louisiana Conference offer a variety of youth retreats to foster that connection among youth in different churches.

Awakening Weekend

The Louisiana Conference is hosting Awakening Weekend from January 6 - 8, 2012, a journey toward ministry for youth ages 16 - 20 years old. It is designed to be an interactive weekend of exploring, sharing, listening and serving. Learn more about The Awakening.

Happening #39

The Happening experience is a powerful instrument of renewal in the church. Happening #39 is January 13 - 15, 2012. The weekend theme is developed through a series of talkes that compare the changing nature of material and social reality as compared to the permanent nature of spiritual reality, a firm foundation on which youth can build a secure foundation for life.

Happening is a youth-led event. The Happening staff is made up of tenth through twelfth graders. Adults are present to support the weekend, including Spiritual Directors. Happening provides a method through which one's spirituality may be developed, lived and shared in fellowship with Christians willing to dedicate their lives to God in an ongoing manner. Learn more about The Happening.

Senior High Retreat

The theme of The Alexandria District's Senior High Retreat is Living a 3-D Faith: Discipleship, Devotion, Discipline. There are two retreat weekends: February 17 - 19, 2012 or February 24 - 26, 2012. The cost is $85 per person and registration is due by February 10 to avoid a late fee. The retreat is held at The Wesley Center in Woodworth.
