Music & Arts

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir's principle purposes are to support and enhance the 11:00 Sunday morning worship service and foster spiritual growth in its members. This fine group sings a weekly anthem, two major choral performances a year and numerous small additions to the music of worship. The Chancel Choir meets on Wednesdays from 7:00- 8:30 p.m. in the Choir Room.

Handbell Choir

The Handbell Choir performs in the worship services approximately three to four times each semester. They provide colorful additions to hymns and other service music. The adult Handbell Choir meets from on Mondays from 5:15 - 6:15 p.m. from September through May.

Ring 4 Joy

This small handbell ensemble meets on Mondays from 6:15 - 7:15 p.m. They focus on demanding music for 3 - 4 ringers.

J.A.M.

Jesus, Art and Music is our Wednesday evening program for children in pre-K through the sixth grade. The children learn how to use music, drama, visual arts and writing in the leading of worship. There are two children's choirs under the direction of Gail Clayton: the Cherub Choir  is for pre-K through second grade and the Carol Choir is for grades 3 - 6. A handbell choir for younger children is led by Colleen Brooks and Lorraine Staats. Brian Breeding also leads a handchime choir for the older children. Children are divided into these groups between 6:00 and 7:00 on Wednesday nights during the school year.

Joymakers

The Joymakers is a group of adults who gather weekly to sing at different nursing homes in the area each Wednesday morning at 10:00. There is no rehearsal or prerequisite for joining - just a love for music and a desire to share that love with others. Their repertoire is pulled from the Cokesbury Hymnal as well as "ditties," songs such as Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, etc.  The first Wednesday of each month, they visit Naomi Heights; the second Wednesday, Regency House; the third Wednesday, Matthews Memorial; the fourth Wednesday, Emeritus (formerly Kingsley Place); and the fifth Wednesday, Marigold House. Please contact the church office for additional information.
